Strange brake question?

My car's brakes are acting up. They work fine, but when coming to a complete stop they make a very strange clicking noise (not scrapping or anything like that) A loud clicking noise. When at a full stop, i can push the brake pedal in and out and it still makes the clicking noise. I have a friend that said his brakes did that when he forgot to put some clip in that helps hold the caliper inline with the pads. I'm not an expert at all on brakes and i'm trying to get more knowledge on it, but just curious if any of these symtoms ring a bell as to what a solution would be to my problem. Any help?

could be a problem with your ABS. does it feel like the ABS is functioning ok?

Damn level7, you beat me to it ;)

mrb63083, the noise in my thread (that level7 posted the link to) had nothing to do with wheel motion, only when the car was still. It was too faint to hear over wind & tire noise.

If it's loud, I'd check suspension and caliper mounting.
