Stock primary 550cc injector removal, how to ?
Hello rotary freinds ;-)
I have bought the RX7 store extreme fuelsystem and are about to unbolt the stock system and install the new system :-) unfortunately, no installation instructions came with that kit ! does anyone out there have instructions, pic's, video's etc that decribes the installation procedure ? allso, I have now removed the ACV, stock secondary fuelrail etc. and I am at the primary injectors now, I will pull out the injectors for testing/cleaning (I will keep the stock 550 cc primary injectors) but is there some good ways of pulling out the injectors themselves, without having to remvoe the whole fuelrail ? I think it can be done, but they really stick and I am afraid to break/damage something ! hope there is a gentle way of doing this ;-) thank's in advance guys. Rene Barfred DENMARK |
You are better off remove the rail to get the injectors out, then gently pull the injector out with a piler.

it is much easier to remove the fuel rails as assemblies.

I agree with them, pull the rails. When pulling the injectors out, be sure to stay away from the bottoms, you dont want to risk damaging the pintle. I would start to try and remove them with your fingers first. Twist and pull then when youve worked them out a little bit switch to the pliers or a thin tipped flat head.

The only reliable way I've found to remove the stock injectors from the rails is to carefully wedge a thin flat blade screwdriver under the connector portion and gently twist to pop the injector up slightly. Then spray some wd40 and switch to a larger flat blade screw driver. Twist and the injector should pop right out.
If you are installing the RX-7 store fuel system you will need to remove the original injector diffusers. The best way I've found in the car is a curved pick to pull them out. Make sure the entire diffusers come out intact. If they break use a strong shop vac to suck them out. I like to empty the shop vac first and check it after to make sure you get the entire thing out. |
Can the rubber insulators be reused if they appear to be in ok shape, or should they be replaced?

Yes, the only way to get the injectors out, was to take out the whole fuelrail ! I will not change the secondary injectors, only the secondary injectors and rail is being changed, but does the secondary stock injectors allso have theese injector diffusers ? and if, should they be removed ? allso, the RX7 store system came with resistors (see picture) would it be ok to install them underneath the UIM ? some people talking about they do not like the heat down there ? if not, where should I install them ? thank's in advance guys. Rene DENMARK You don't use the rubber insulators on the Bosch injectors. There should be a machined aluminum insert that gets pressed into the lower intake manifold and the injector seats against it. If you are talking about for your stock primaries, You can re-use them but I always like to put new ones in. |
There are diffusers in the LIM for the secondary injectors, those can be remove easily with a nose plier.
