Is this the stock oil pressure sender?
 

Like the title says, is this the stock oil pressure sending unit? I broke the clip off of it today (it was soldered on by someone previously : /). I have an after market one that I'm going to use so I'm not worried about that one if its broken. Will it give me an error message on the ECU?

Yes, that is the stock unit. Don't know if an aftermarket one will create an error. You would have to know what the voltage/resistance change is for both with respect to changes in pressure. Is the stock unit faulty?

Stock unit is in fact faulty. I'm using a sandwich plate on the oil filter for the after market sender. If I leave this one, the stock broken one, disconnected, will that cause any problems?

Technically it is referred to the Oil Pressure Switch and Oil Pressure Sensor in the Factory Service Manual (something I assume you don't have, but do need). Not exactly sure why you want to install an aftermarket unit, nor do I know if it will create an issue with the stock ECU.

It will not cause a CEL on the ECU. You can try the aftermarket, then swap to an OEM replacement if it doesn't work. The gauge operation will be the proof. The OEM's are pricey.

The oem sending unit is accurate, when it's working properly. I see no reason to deal with an aftermarket gauge, aside from introducing one more possibility of a leak :)

I have an after market gauge as well sorry forgot to mention. It came as a set that I purchased used. So leaving the stock one disconnected wont cause any problems?

Assume you have a stock ECU? Don't know how it will react to a no oil psi reading. May throw it into limp. Never tried unpluging mine on the stock ECU.

Also my sender was initially bad and sometimes would display absolutely 0 psi. I wonder if that would be the same to the ecu as no reading...

I just picked up my first FD and I am having an oil leak that i can't find. I replaced the oil pressure sending unit since the old one was faulty. I'm not sure if the leak existed before that, as I did that the 2nd day I had the car.

It's leaking from that general area when the car is not running, I'm not sure if it leaks when running. What are some common leaks in that area I should look for?

the sender goes right to the gauge only, so the ECU isn't involved at all
