scc ... 12 psi boost with usual bolt-ons.

2.6 psi drop across IC. 230-240F max charge temps at roadcourse on 90F day.

2.6......... damn

is that with or without a quart of oil ;0

good jesus. a 2.6 pressure drop? thats friggin insane.
I cant believe people complain about the pressure drop of aftermarket fmic's.
The blitz one at 12 psi has a pressure drop across the core of half a psi.Thats right 0.5 psi pressure drop.
Looks to me like the blitz and probably any other fmics are way better than the stock intercooler.

anything is better than stock non-functional IC.

Most smic upgrades will offer much larger gross flow area for the charge thru the core, usually meaning less pressure drop. guys running high boost on stock IC's make turbos run much harder, and turbos run hotter with higher backpressure. Check comparo at:

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/intercoolers.html

scc had the M2 big and med at about .8 psi drop iirc.

most fmic's should be small drop, except the small NPR (sp).

FMIC's like to brag about the pressure drop across the core but don't include the loss with all the piping/bends.

The 1.0 and 1.1 psi drops for the M2 SMIC's included piping. Someone on here recorded drop for a CWR SMIC as 0.9 psi from y-pipe to intake elbow.
