stock ic cross-over duct question

OK, one last question about this car I'm getting, The air box is missing as is the duct that links to the intercooler. I was thinking of going straight to an aftermarket intake instead of replacing the stock air box. I am not planning on getting a new ic setup, at least not right away. Is it ok to just leave the plastic ic shroud open where the duct hooks up or should i cover it with something, it seems fairly well protected to me.

If you are aren't going to redirect the air out of that hole to the intake side, then yes cover it.

get rid of all that plastic crap and chuck a couple of pods onto some alloy plumbing, just do a search on engine bay pics and you'll get an idea pretty quick.
The only decision you may have to make is wether you stick with your airpump at all.
Both BOVs can be vented to atmosphere if you like, or if it sounds a little ricey you may want to stick ( smaller) filters on them or plumb them back

Are you sure you understand what his question is?

will covering it force more air through the ic?

Yes, but it won't really be that signifigant. It's just a waste to have that hole open if you aren't redirecting over into the intake so you may as well cover it if it's not being redirected.

got you, thanks for the much needed info
