Stock FD and Block Off Plates
After 6 years I have finally picked up another FD, but this time its completely stock, and it's a garage queen (only a Sunday car). I have ordered some reliability mods such as Downpipe, AST, Aluminum Rad, and FC thermoswitch. But to cleanup the engine bay a little am I able to install a full set of Banzai Racing Block off plates without a standalone? I am just wanting to make more room inside the bay to make it "cleaner". I tried searching "block off plates" and "stock block off plates" but came across nothing for stock FD's.

im getting away with it right now, just remember to stick some resistors in the plugs for the removed solenoids on the rats nest, 330ohms if I remember right. 330 ohms, should take care of ANYTHING electric that needs to be removed, and will keep the ECU from having a freak out and putting the car into limp mode.

Does the car run ok right now? I'd just leave the vacuum routing alone right now.

Appreciate the info Asianguy02. Also car runs fine, its completely stock. Both turbos spool up fine and no smoking so I was just thinking of getting rid of some of the "junk" under the hood.

Also, when you remove the air pump and/or other emissions equipment you can have idle problems, reduced catalytic converter life, backfiring, all sorts of crap. It's not as a simple as "oh I'm just going to get in there and clean it up a bit." I'd do a downpipe, AST, and thermoswitch then leave it alone until it starts giving you problems. |
Appreciate the reply arghx. Ya the car does run fine and boosts fine with no smoking or anything. AST is already here (RX7.com), thermoswitch is on its way, and I am hunting for a downpipe I want. Lastly I am trying to track down a nice aluminum rad while I am in there and some nice new hoses.

anyways, I would honestly just leave it alone, don't fix what isn't broken. |
