Stock cold air mod

I just came across this thread in the for sale section. What do you think? It seems to make sense.

That mod has been around for a time now. Adam c would probably jump on this thread soon and give you more info on it. I wonder can the intake get enough air from that open slit with the main opening blocked off.

Hmmmm.......... :D

When modifying the stock airbox, I prefer to keep the stock inlet open. It is an excellent source of cool air, especially at speeds over 40 mph. A couple of people have done tests with and without the stock inlet. For performance, having the inlet open is much better. Butt dynos support this. For intake temps, a modified box with a block off plate may provide slightly lower temps ONLY if used with a shield, and only if the car is stopped, or moving very slowly. When the car is moving over 40 mph, that plate will restrict cool airflow. At higher speeds, the nose of the car is pressurized, and cool air is forced into the stock inlet. Getting rid of it is a bad idea.

Buy my shield, keep the stock inlet.

My 3 cents :)
