Stock BOV mod

Anybody ever tried taking the outlet hoses off your stock bov's and capping the air box where they went? Sounds pretty good! You can really hear those babies! And better yet, it was free, compared to spending 300+!

yep, i like mine, i think bov should be the mod when you have nothing else remaining to do since the oem one seems to do the job for a reasonnably modified car.

Venting the stock BOV still doesn't sound like some of the aftermarket ones, so it really depends on what you want.

It's like aftermarket rims, you really don't need them, but if you have the money why not?

I broke the BOV and CRV when I changed my ECU and bumped up to 15 PSI (running non-seq). Jason at the RX7 store sent me a Greddy Type S with the elbow and IC pipes . No more worries now . Stock BOV is only good for so much pressure for so long .;)

I did this a couple times, and I just couldn't keep it like that for a couple reasons:

1) I would drive more aggressively just to hear it make that cool noise. The stock unit seems to need some convincing to make it go "PSSHHHH!", so this was just asking for a ticket.

2) Seemed kinda ghetto to me. Sure, it makes a sorta neat noise, but it's not anywhere near as cool as what you get out of an aftermarket BOV.

I think it's neat to get an idea of the sound, but once you've gotten over the initial hardon from the noise, it kind of gets annoying since the stock unit doesn't hold in the air (making that annoying constant blowing noise).

That's my opinion, YMMV.

no need to buy an expensive bov if you're not running lots of boost (ie: anything over 14psi) the stock denso valve is pretty good. They rarely fail
