Stereo wiring to Antenna

I have replaced the stereo with an a/m head unit.
If there is any power going to the head (radio or cd mode) I get power back to the antenna and it raises.
Am I missing something?
Is there an electrical connection which is supposed to be plugged into the head unit which would basically regulate power to the antenna based on a play mode?
Is there a reason that this did not happen with the older stereo?

Thanks

The stock stereo sent signal to raise/lower the antenna depending on whether the FM tuner was active. Most aftermarked headunits have one output lead to be used for the antenna and amplifier. Thus, it would go up no matter what mode you are in. Higher quality radios have separates leads. Either deal with it, like i did for >2 years, or disconnect the power harness at the antenna, or buy a new radio :)

or you can put a button in line that you can push to raise or lower the antenna ;)
