Stereo/electrical problem
 

I have a new head unit installed, and I had the same problem before and after.

The rear Bose tubes emit a chirping sound, but nothing from the audio system. My antenna has been disconnected because it doesn't work (have replacement), could this be the problem? Also, I've checked the harness and the speakers are attached.

When does the chirping noise occur? All the time? At start up?

Only when the stereo is switched on.

bad grounding. Simple as that. Check your Head unit grounds and you may want to rerun the wires to your speakers.

Well I've just completed a stereo install, so all the grounding should be right...I'll turn it back on in a few to see if it's still making the noise.

I hope it's fixed.

Yes, bad grounds could cause this but also check all your wire connectors. Alot of times it is a poorly spliced wire or not connecting the wires properly to the speaker. Also, the Bose factory amp is notorious for causing problems with newer head units. You don't have to replace your speakers but you really should buy a new 4-channel amp and hook up all your speakers to it. I'd check your grounds and connections first, seeing as the factory amp isn't always the problem.

After my final connection of all the wires and lots of tie wraps...I turned the unit on.

For the first time since I've had the car...the rear speakers work!!! My mom's '93 was a base model...so this is the first time I've heard the Bose system. Sounds great to me, aside from my center speaker being sundamaged. I'm feeling great today, I got my RX-8 knob in today too.

I still don't know what I'm going to do about the antenna cables though.
