Steering wheel vibrations!

So..

When on the highway at speeds of 120 km/h my steering wheel starts to shake. Nothing around town, just when I get into a little higher speeds you really start to notice.

Recently bought brand new wheels and rubber and had them put on. I'm assuming that they were balanced before being put on. (I realize this could be my problem :P) Had an alignment done the other day too.

Now.. my first FD didn't shake at all, even when I got up to speeds in excess of 200 km/h. So i'm a little confused here, that car was 110% stock.

I've heard of people with similar problems, and that they just had to tighten the steering rack? Not quite sure about what else I can do here, I was thinking of going to get my wheels balanced again at one of the higher end tire shops here.

Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated here. I don't do a whole lot of driving at highway speeds but when I get the "Need for speed" i'd like my car to hug the road and the wheel not to shake. Thanks in advance!

Most likely one of the wheels isn't on the hub flush, or they didn't balance the wheels properly. A bad balance is fairly common, nothing big.

Take it back to the tire shop, tell them you're getting some vibration and have them re-check the balance. Also have them install the wheels with a torque wrench.

off balance is most likely. maybe even a flat spot on a tire, less likely. start there for the no big deal stuff.
