starting problem diagnosis

my FD has recently been having problems starting (mainly since my clutch was changed out) and i would have to push start it almost every day. could the problem be from not having the clutch bled? now the clutch hardly even gets pressure at the floor and i have to pump it to get it in gear.

first it sounds like you need your clutch bled, but as long as the car is in neutral that shouldent make a difference when starting.

is your starter turning over the engine? its probably a bad starter solenoid if its not. you can hit it with a hammer a couple of times and crank the car.. if you can get it to start that way then thats probably your problem

(or you could do it the real way and use a multimeter) posh

well.. i have a reman starter sitting on my bed.... and i'm going to feel like a jackass if all i needed was a solenoid replaced....

ehh its all part of the same thing, its usually easier (and close to the same price) to replace the whole thing.

mine wasent working so i took it apart and cleaned everything, worked like a charm for a while, but every once in a while it will take 2 or 3 clicks to get it to turn over. wish i had just bought a reman.

Make sure you connected your clutch interlock switch. If this is open it will not start the car. Most people place a jumper in there so they never have to push the clutch in to start the car. Just a thought.
