Starting/not starting

I am looking into an FD with low milage, auto. The car is very sound yet has reportedly a problem:

" The only thing I can say is wrong with the car is sometimes after it has been run and you shut it off and then within a short amount of time go to start it again, you turn the key and nothing happens.* It is not the starter.* If you turn the key to the on position and then back off, then on, it starts."

Any thoughts?

There's a TSB on that. The power harness to the starter heat soaks and the car doesn't start. Mazda has a replacement harness (don't think it's that much) that's supposed to fix the problem.

my 7 has the same starting issues. when i restart, i have to turn off all accessories, to get the car to turn over.

i wonder what the difference is in the harnesses that changes the starting characteristics. if heatsoak is the problem, perhaps the oem harness can be insulated to resolve the problem.

dale, do you know of any actual experiences from auto fd owners with the problem that did buy the harness and it actually solved the problem. Ive had this problem for the last year and it sucks....ive replaced starter, battery, ect ect. Someone once said that they installed some kind of relay and that fixed the problem. ANy other insight from auto owners....though i know this has been discussed i didnt really read about an actual workign solution

you need to be sure the prob is being caused by voltage drop in the s wire going to the starter After the ignition switch for this tsb to work.
