Starter Problem

While trying to figure out why my car wont turn over, I have run into another problem.

The second time I went to de-flood the car, I got no response from the starter, no click, nothing.

I then replaced the starter, still same problem. I then did the security relay by-pass, still doing the same thing.

Theres a black wire wth a single connection that goes to a bosch relay, near the starter, and then wires from the relay go to the starter.

I figured it was this relay so I replaced it, no change. I could hear that relay click when I tried to start the car though.

Now when I take the black wire that feeds the bosch relay, and connect it directly to the spade connect on the starter and I turn the key the starter solenoid clicks.

Im not too sure where to go from here.

check the ground on the starter. I had a very similar problem with a customer's vehicle before. Later I found out that the there werent sufficient ground. Try adding a ground directly to the starter itself to see if it clicks. If you have power, but no ground you wouldnt be able to turn it over.

Also, check your battery to make sure it is charged fully, otherwise you would have the same issue you described too.

p.s. can you turn the engine freely with a socket + a rachet?

Ok, where abouts do I connect a ground to the starter?

Battery is good and fully charged, the engine turned over fine when the starter was working.

Ugh, thats probably one of the stupidest things ive ever asked lol.

To recap, it was cranking fine, though it seemed kind of slow. Then as im deflooding the car, cranks fine the first time, go to crank it a second time and the interior lights dim, all I hear is the bosch relay near the starter click (not the starter itself) and thats all. So far ive done:

1. OEM security relay bi-pass
2. new bosch starter relay
3. New wiring from the bosch relay to the starter
4. 2 gauge ground from the negative battery terminal to the starter
5. starter is good
6. battery is good

Next im going to replace the main battery ground to the chassis, it looks like crap, as im thinking maybe some other part of the system isnt grounding.

Anything else I might be missing?
