stalling problem
 

my car is a 93 R1 Rx7. i stalled twice today. once on a main street and once in my complex. no, i did not let off the clutch, it was actually depressed the whole way both times. i noticed b4 it stalled that the car started to sound weaker and the rpms slowly dropped. oh yea, and also, my car needs like 20 seconds to start up again. never seems to start up right away. does anyone have any idea why its doing this? and fyi, i am not a bad driver. :)

what mods do you have?

pwr radiator, petit ecu, boost gauge, temp gauge, hks superflow air filters, dp, mp, apexi gt spec exhaust, ast removal, battery relocation, 20b fuel pump, new magnecor spark plugs, racing beat spark wires, transmission fluid recently flushed, rear end flushed.

What's your idle rpm? Did you have your airpump removed?

no idea. what i have right now is how the last owner set it up. just bought this car. all i know is theres a lot of space under the hood because the last owner relocated the radiator to the bottom horizontally. i only know basics when it comes to car which is why im taking course in auto service technology.

and i also noticed one more thing. if i throw it in neutral, it idles at 1k. hold down the clutch and put it into gear, it idles at like .5 which is when it starts to slowly die on me. could it be something wrong with the clutch?

When you remove the airpump on these cars, you generally need to raise the idle to compensate or use a programmable ECU to fix the idle. The Pettit ECU is not a programmable ECU, but a rechip of the stock ECU (I use it as well). The idle without the airpump will be about 1000-1100 rpms to keep it from bogging down.

See if you can start the car, put it in neutral and leave your foot off the clutch. If it idles fine, press in the clutch and see if the idle drops. If it does, there is a switch on the back of the clutch called the "clutch switch". It may need to be replaced (cheap part).

hmmm...i do have the ecu that the previous owner suggested i install. lemme try that out.
