Squeaky Leather Seats?

As we eliminate the rattles and squeaks from our '93 Touring, we've had an unpleasant surprise. Now the loudest noise is the squeaking from our seats.

Has anyone identified and corrected this Squeak? I know a little bit of it is just the leather, but I'm guessing that something else in the seat frame etc. is also contributing.

Thanks in advance for any help. Really only want to hear the engine -- not rattles and squeaks.

No, try isolating the squeek it can be stopped. BTW: Do you have a larger pic of your car in the avatar? Looks like mine.

Poor quality materials and softening of the foam under padding over time are most likely to blame. This was one of the reasons I replaced the leather seats with R1 seats.

I had lots of squeaks after re-covering with the Leatherseats.com replacement leather covers. In my case, the squeak was primarily from the side of the seat pressing and / or rubbing against the door panel. Try velcroing some felt to the seat bolster if it's too annoying....

Doubt the R1 type suede seats make much noise....

Sorry for the thread resurrection, but hey, you can't rip me for not searching this time.........

I have squeaking coming from the seats too, but I'm starting to think that it is actually coming from where the seats press against the center consul. I'm thinking that the pressure is actually making the consul squeak. There is a fastener hidden on either side behind where the seat usually sits.

Has anyone else found this to be true?

I had squeaking from the leather seats rubbing on the console. It was the rubbing itself making the squeaking noise. I wound up putting some self-adhesive teflon tape on the console where it rubs. Problem solved.

my seat noise appears to be from seat againt center console, and or seat against door panel. seems like they squeezed those seats in tehre with no room to spare! lol

hence why if the driver seat belt isnt wound all the way back in it leave sa dent in the door panel where it james agianst seat and panel!

Mt seat has squeaked since the day I bought it and the seats are still like brand new. It is definitely the seat rubbing on the center counsole. I have never taken the time to fix it though. Black felt tape on the center counsole is a great idea though.
