Spent some time in the garage, reburb'ed oil cooler install and other stuff

After a long wait (too damn busy porting and building other people's motors, lol), I was finally able to score some garage time and remove my front bumper to get a lot of work done:

---Install reburbished R1 oil coolers, remove old oem ducts
---Install new LED parking lights
---Fab up and mount mesh grilles to protect new blitz fmic and oil coolers
---Reinstall HIDs
---Reroute water injection lines
---Clean up various wires and grounds
---Install new horns and junk old sissy-sounding stock ones (thanks to Dale Clark for the idea!)
---Install 99 spec undertray and 99 spec brake ducts
---Install new oem coolant reservoir and windshield washer tank

It was pretty time consuming because of all the rerouting of wires and cleaning everything up. Once you pull the front bumper, rebar, front wheels and fender liners you really have access to a lot of spots you previously couldn't get to. I really like the new look, getting rid of the old dim parking lights, beat up oil coolers, and ugly 93 oil cooler ducts in the 99 bumper was something I've been wanting to do for a long time :icon_tup:

Edit: you can see how I modified my 93 rebar to work with the 99 spec combo lights while still retaining their functionality.

Scrub 03-15-07 11:39 PM

There's a link in my sig ;). I've had them for years, but the install is much cleaner and more professional now.

Horns sound better, more manly. I was able to mount both of them using stock brackets/bolt holes, using stock wiring. Couldn't have been easier!

Got them in 04 for 400. Wow. it's been a while hehe.
I wonder how much it costs now.
I got HID on my FC 6000K. works great for less than $100.

Here's a tiny pic.
Don't want to ruin your thread*

It's aluminum black anodized. I picked it up last time I visited Gotham. I like it because it will protect the fmic and coolers but it looks pretty low key.

I've been wanting to get one to protect my vmount radiator since Rotary Extreme isn't around anymore but i figured it look a little ricey.

But...i stand corrected. Looks mean as hell and thanks for the info.

What Nissan are those horns from?

BlouZbee 03-16-07 07:27 AM

your work is an inspiration. looking very very good man.

airborne 03-16-07 08:22 AM

Wow, very clean. Love the updated stock look.

nice pair of horns; nsfw!

dubulup 03-16-07 08:30 AM

nice work, and clean looking!

Uno Suggestion: (I've mentioned it in another thread as well.)
Ray sells the clips for this hole (radiator opening) for $1.50ea. or something...I jsut bought some.

Since you aren't using the 99 piece that fits there, slice the tabs off or cover with electrical tape...IMHO it will look more "finished"

Thanks for the props guys :)

Horns are from a 1995 Nissan Quest, believe it or not.

Dub, I thought about just cutting them off, but don't feel like the paint cracking on me. I might pick up the clips from Ray, are you sure he sells them? He doesnt carry any of the 99 spec stuff.

they look identical to the stockers...you might need a zip tie on the bottoms to hold them in, since they won't be "holding" anything. I believe they twist (90deg) in to lock.

I just described them to Ray as, "the three locking tabs on the bumper cover in the radiator opening"...and he was able to locate them.

**EDIT**

^ 2 horns $65.90 shipped. I didn't shop around, but felt this was decent.
