Space between K2RD fuel rail and mount?
 

I was putting the injectors on my LIM and found that the rail is about 1.5 to 2 iches from the mount with the injectors in place. Does anyone have any ideas?

Those injectors are not seated, they should snug down into the bosses to make up the difference in space

Yeah I found out i could ram it in there a little more but not 2 inches more. heres another pic after i've pushed both sides in as far as they can go.

They are still not seated. The rubber o rings you see there have to be way down in the injector boss. try putting a smear of ATF or Engine oil on the o rings, and "twist" them down into the bosses. They should go into the boss all the way up to the "shoulder" on the injector.

This was a kit I assume, and everything was included?

here is a pic of how far "seated" the rubber ring is in the LIM. I've pushed that down as far as i can. Next to it is the line up of what i'm trying to seat. Even with the fuel deflector out and allowing it to go down another .25-.5 inches i still wont reach. Any more ideas? Also word such as fuel "boss" and "shoulder", i can assume what these mean but i never sure.

I have the k2rd and 1600s that I installed last year.

I think you need to play with different combinations of the plastic air diffuser thingy, the rubber O ring on the injector, and the rubber injector grommet on the manifold. I think what I ended up doing was using the grommet and the O ring but not the diffuser... I dunno I don't remember exactly.

I could make it work with out the diffuser but i would like that was put there for a reason. It seems that it is not even close to fitting in there will everything i looks like shoudl be there.

It looks as if you may have to eliminate the air injection nozzles ( the long plastic thingie).

The "Boss" is the physical location/hole the injector seats into. The "shoulder" on the injector is the spot where it becomes very obviously larger in diameter. It should seat down cleanly, you will know when you have it.

here is a pic of one of the injectors on my Neon - it is the same type of top feed one, and you can see how far it seats into the "boss" on the bottom.

Also, it looks like the grommet you got should go on the top of the injector.. it does not appear it will fit around the injector bottom.

You have to remove the fuel diffuser which is the long plastic piece that sits down in the hole. If not you wont be able to mount the rail on the posts.

I'm just using the OE gromet that was in there, as far as i can tell it is the only thing that seals up properly. So far that 2 suggestion to take out the diffuser/plastic thing but still kinda worried about that one.

If i remember correctly I took out the diffusers & gromets, the lower o ring on the injector sealed it fine.

I Just got done installing my K2RD fuel rail (I was borrowing my prior one) and it works find ... just remove the diffusers as everyone else suggest.

it will work just fine by removing the difuser.

I couldn't get mine to seat at all.. it woul just dangle there in the hole so I made a boss out of teflon and shoved it inside of the hole then put the injector inside of it. DId the same for the top to be more secure. Took out the diffuser and the o-ringed' seat as well.

If you are using 1600cc injectors you need to at least cut off the bottom portion of the diffuser (long plastic brown thing with the angle at the bottom). If you do not you run the risk of it breaking off due to the amount of fuel that the injectors put out as some people have found in the past.

There should be no ill effects from removing it if you are moving enough air to really need 1600cc injectors...it will still mix ok.

you can also use a small piece of 3/8 fuel line.
