Sound from LF and RR speakers only

I have a non-bose car(type 1) getting sound out of LF and RR speakers only. I've tried two decks and two center amps (turns out the amps probably weren't relevant). And, it doesn't seem to be a connectivity issue at the deck. My dome lights work, and my cigar lighters works, so it's probably not a fuse. My center speaker is out for a center gauge pod. I'm sitting with the '94 body and electrical manual. Just wondering if anyone's had a similar issue, or has any tips. I guess I need to pull the panels and verify continuity over the harness and resistance across the speakers?

The wiring to the speakers is pretty hardy, unless something got physically unplugged at some point.

If you have a stock stereo it's possible the amp in the stereo is going south.

The center channel amp, if memory serves, just T's into a left/right speaker level input and combines it for a center channel. I removed my center channel speaker a zillion years ago with no problems. I don't have a stock stereo, however.

With the stereo out you should be able to test continuity with a meter. Put a meter on the positive and negative connections for a speaker, should see around 4 ohms.

The problem really can only be blown speaker, open/shorted circuit to the speaker, or bad amp in the stereo.
