somebody please help! Major boost problem

all i was doing was installing my autometer air fuel guage.....i tapped it into the only ALL black wire on the ecu.....it made all the lights come on but didnt seem to read.....so i said fuck it.....

then I went for a drive and right when my primary turbo kicks in, the car stutters major and doesnt move and i hear loud popping sounds from the exhaust...so i stop the car.....i rev in neutral and it does the same and i look back and i see flames shooting out of the exhaust....whenever i reach primary turbo my car just struggles and hesitates....can anyone help??? the car idles normally and sounds normal in everyway...could i have blown the motor? thank you so much in advance

my mods are:

catback
midpipe
intake

Is this the stock ecu?

If so you have your mods a little bit backwards. I would get a downpipe and get rid of the midpipe and put a stock cat back on there. Then get a boost controller or at least the home depot manual boost controller and put your boost to 9 or 10 psi max. Remember it gets higher in every gear. 10 in first may not be 10 in 4th.

Also, did you take the connection off for the air fuel gauge and leave the all black wire how it was before now? After you check on that reset your ecu. Just unhook the negative side of the battery for about an hour and then put it back on. It sounds like your car was majorly backfiring and that it was in warmup mode still. Had you reached operating temperature 180? Your car is not behaving at all like a blown motor. If you throw an apex seal you will know it and if you chip one you will have no down low power but the car will rev great throughout the rest of the rpm range once you get it going.

Good luck

did you take out your ecu when you tried splicing the wire??

zeroFDevide 03-23-03 01:25 PM

no i didnt take out the ecu, i just unplugged the harness and spliced it at the harness......i will try reseting the ecu...could it have something to do with wut i did to the ecu wires???

when i istalled the the A/F gauge... i forgot to connect the ground of the ECU to the side wall and the result are the same as you described...

where did you connect the other wire(s)?

If I remember correctly there is more than one all black wire to the ECU at any rate if I am wrong so what . The o2 s black wire is in the middle engine harnes connector . (the forth connector is not engine. The connector has 16 wires and the black one is the 7th on top. That is the one you need, you could have tapped in to something that caused the misfire , If I am correct please let me know .

also the 16 wire connector has only one all black wire
