Solutions for reduction/elimination of tranny brace NVH
 

I've had my tranny brace on for almost a year now. I've been trying to come up with a good way to cut down on the noise, vibration, and harshness added by attaching the brace. The throwout bearing whine/whir is pretty excessive and I'd like to cut down on that as a minimum.

Today I cut up some somewhat high density rubber that's about 1/4" thick from eyeballing it and put that in between the floor pan and the brace. I got in the car and started driving and nothing had really changed. I'd go so far as to say that I think it might have gotten louder/harsher. The whine is more defined.

Has anyone else had any success?? Any suggested materials or actions that you've found to work in other applications?

As a related side note, I recommend that all of you with these braces periodically check the bolts going into the floor pan. Mine had vibrated loose a little bit - not loose, but not torqued to the same degree that I did when I was last under the car.

Thanks for the link - I hadn't searched around at nopistons about this yet.

For the others finding thsi in a search - viton rubber washers on all 6 bolts apparently works well.
