Don't let your fuel level get too low.

i just filled it up.....i then drove around all day...so i still have about.....3/4 of a tank left?

Mahjik 03-29-07 11:56 AM

If it just stopped out of nowhere, sounds like it could be electrical.

jwilson 03-29-07 12:03 PM

well from what i noticed all electrical was fine...it wants to start but just wont turn over...its very frustrating.....

Right now, it sounds like the car is just flooded. The original problem of the car just cutting out with a fairly full gas tank sounded like something electrical.

ok so what would be the best way to solve this problem?
oh yeah totally forgot to mention me and a buddy tried to push start it....got it goin but then just died even if i gave it gas?

I would start by trying to crank the car with your floor on the floor on the gas pedal. Doing so stops gas from being injected during the starting process. This will allow your engine to expell excess fuel without more being dumped in. I would do this 2-3 times letting it crank for about 20 seconds each time.

Now, this will run your battery down. You'll either need another car to use for jump starting or a battery charger.

Afterwords, use something like WD-40 and squirt a little in the UIM nipples on the turbo side. Not a ton, just enough to help with the combustion and then try to crank it over normally.

take out the plugs, make sure the wires are NOT around the housings, remove fuel pump fuse?(gurus, hope im right on that one)and crank over so it defloods.Clean plugs/dry,place them back and start engine.Good Luck!

P.S.not responsible for engine fire due to dumbasses letting spark reach gas fumes. Please consult with your nearest Rotary doctor for more details.

"I would start by trying to crank the car with your floor on the floor"

I need to read what I'm typing. I'm sure you understand what I meant but that should be:

"I would start by trying to crank the car with your foot on the floor"

ok so i went and tryed the deflooding thing....still doesnt work...but waited a few hours...now my battery is dead..so in the morning im gunna try to jump start it..
another thing...could this at all be maybe my alternator is shot?

thanks

jwilson 03-30-07 07:06 AM

anyone?

car hugger 03-30-07 07:19 AM

Alternators are funny creatures and I've had some do some strange things. If you think the alternator's bad just take it off and huff it down to an autoparts store for a test. If you've got other transport take the battery as well and eliminate these two from the equation.

well its not that my car wont start....its that it wont start because while driving it just died?

jwilson 03-31-07 06:48 PM

ok so heres an update.....i went and did the stuff to deflood it....still didnt start..so next morning went to give it a try and...nothing no noise no nothing?WTF so then i say ok well my batter is dead....nope batttery if perfect? lights and everything turn on in the car? all fuses were checked one was bad so i changed it out and still nothing?

so......can it now be my starter? or what? thanks a bunch..

jwilson 04-01-07 09:39 AM

does anyone know what the problem can be now^

jwilson 04-01-07 12:34 PM

anyone?

Did you test the alternator? Did you test the battery, just because the lights come on doesn't mean it can handle the load of starting. Pull the starter off and go get it tested. These are tests that almost all autoparts stores do for free.

djseven 04-01-07 03:15 PM

If the battery is fully charged or being jumped from another car the alternator would NOT prevent the car from running. When you did the deflood, did you buy new spark plugs? They can foul so badly that there really is no saving them even if you wire brush and clean the hell out of them. I would go thru the deflood motions again with the spark plugs out, then by new plugs and try to jump start the car off of another running car, preferably a large truck or suv.

ok well i tried to jump it and want even crank over.....will check the plugs in the morning and let you know what happens.
