So I hit .8 today..... Pretty much stock
I was watching my boost gauge real close the other day, and I hit .8 on a second gear WOT pull. Ive got an intake and catback. Ive never hit fuel cut, never had any problems. I dont know. Are the J-spec fuel cut/stock boost higher than USDM? Should I worry?

You're at Kadena! Damn that place brings back memories. By .8 I assume you mean .8 BAR. I think boost control should be in your near future, but I have no idea if the fuel cut is higher. I wouldn't depend on it to save you on a US or Jap 7.

.8 shouldn't be that much over the stock boost if 1 bar is 14.7psi or so.. U r basically 2.94 psi below that which puts you around 12 psi... I got those number when I had a dp, catback, and intake... That little it could just be the gauge, but if you see lower numbers than that all the time then it probly isn't... Just out of curiosity what boost gauge are you using?

Did you experience .8bar over an extended period of time?

It's probably a combination of the gauge being a little off and you seeing elevated boost from the bolt-on mods.
I wouldn't worry too much about it for now, but before you add any more mods you should probably install a boost controller and get it back down to 10psi. Dave |

Tanjo - i hit the same threshold with DP & CB only. elevate boost due to greater flow.
I got my car a greddy type s Boost Controller and tuned it to 9-7-9 low, and 10.5-8-10.5 high. it works GREAT! |
interesting... but as of what i know, as long as rotaries have enough fuel in the combustion chamber, the boost is not a major concern right ?
correct me if i'm wrong... i'm running at 0.9 BAR.. constant... during the transition it's like drop to 0.8.. and immediately shoots back up to 0.9 and rock solid all the way to red line... i would make it 0.9 - 0.8 - 0.9... actually the drop was just like a small jerk... |
btw, my air fuel is 9.8

If you're running a stock ECU, and you don't have a wideband to directly measure the AFRs, IMO the best approach is to stay at/near 10psi.
12psi is technically safe on stock tuning and injection, but its dangerous if you get a bad tank of gas, an injector isn't flowing like it should be, density of the air, etc, etc. Dave |
