Smoking
My car smokes on startup when sitting for a long period of time. When I begin to drive it spits smoke from the tailpipe the whole time. Not a lot just about 6" - 7" outwards. You cant see it when you are in the car, jsut when you are outside.
My car has no oil metering pump, so I do a premix of a 2-stroke low-ash oil. What could be the problem or is it just an annoyance I should live with? |
what color smoke???
|
Like a white or grey smoke. The engine was just rebuilt and there is probably less than 5K miles on the motor. Tonight everytime I got up on it it would shoot out a nice thick puff of smoke and cover the car behind me, but only on a hard run.

I posted some pics in the other thread, and not sure if the two are related or not...

Well, just so you know, Blue is oil and white is coolant. So if it is truely white, looks like you're burning coolant. :(

You have a bad coolant seal. Time for a new engine.

No...I am so tired of hearing that. First off the engine doesnt smoke anymore, because the PCV valve is now properly connected.
Its a practically brand new motor, and for it to be a bad coolant seal you would see one or all of the following things. Oil in the coolant, coolant in the oil, or the coolant level dropping. I have none of those systems and the engine...is running great now. Thank you too all of you that helped me in figuring out what the real problem was instead of just giving me the common answer of a bad coolant seal. |
