smoke

after i drive my car for about 20+ mins it starts to smoke .. doesnt smell like anything is on fire though .. smells more like oil .. the smoke seems to be coming from area to the left of the UIM .. i believe it might be where the turbo is located .. but im not too sure cause i do not know too much about the layout of everything under the hood .. and my car doesnt seem to be producing as much power .. any idea on what can be causing this? loose vacuum?

I'm thinking it's an oil leak @ the turbos. If it's not oil, the coolant leaks from the lines around there frequently too. Take everything off from that area & check them out.

G'luck

How many miles do you have on your turbos/car?

yeah i think youre right .. seems to be something to do with the oil .. everytime i get around 3000 rpms in 3rd gear .. i hear this weird suction noise .. any idea on how much it will cost to repair .. assuming it is an oil leak around the turbo area?

well, if you're oil seal is bad you're looking at a rebuild. You can either pick up the turbo rebuild kit or you can have them rebuilt at a reputable turbo shop. I'm not going to recommend a place I already had in mind because artguy will jump all over me. :D
You're prolly looking at a turbo rebuild dood. Unless you can take the turbos off yourself and find out that one of the gaskets is torn or broken on the oil inlet/oulet glanges, then just spend the money on a rebuild.

I believe the cost of the rebuild should be anywhere between $600-$900 bucks. I had mine rebuilt for $675.

omg .. i just spent 3.6k fixing my car after it caught fire .. there is no way i can afford to pay for a turbo rebuild .. anyway i can just disable one of the turbos and just run on one of them?

LOL!!!!!!!! Dood man, just take the turbos out yourself and see if they really need rebuilding. In fact, if you take off the y-pipe, you can test the shaft play. Once you have the y-pipe out, it's just a hop-skip-and a jump from removing the entire turbo cartridge. Once you do that, you can see what the gaskets look like.

ok .. i dont know how to do any of those things .. any suggestions on how a noob like myself will figure this out? perhaps a manual? how many hours do you think this will take?
