Simplified sequential w\solenoid relocation
4 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone I want to share my simplified sequential setup I have been working on this week. I also figured out what i think is a really sweet place for the solenoids, hopefully it works out!:) Some feedback would be cool (good\bad) trust me I dont get my feelings hurt, I just like fixing problems before they happen.

Looks good. What solenoids did you use?
Get that back together and let us know how she performs! |
Seems like a good idea, have you checked for clearance with the UIM and throttle body installed?
|
I like the way it looks hopefully it works out for you.

IMO, I wouldn't locate the solenoids there. It's called a firewall for a reason. ;) I don't think that area is going to be much cooler than under the UIM as you'll have the heat absorbed by the firewall and the heat radiating up from the transmission.
You probably would be better off keeping the solenoids under the UIM and then using some heat tape under them to help isolate them from the engine heat. Then again, if you goal is just easier access to them, then that's a different story. ;) |

I tend to disagree. Air flow and heat is trapped under the UIM, at least the firewall has some air flow.

wouldnt it absorb more heat sitting right above the engine and under the UIM?? almost like an oven.... if anyone has a digital thermometer just let your car idle for a bit and check both temps.... then do a couple drive-bys and check the temps again....

Once the car is running I will hit the solenoids with a thermo gun and compare to the stock location that shoud clear things up either way.

You could just shield them where they are right now. Just insulate them from the firewall as well somehow.

I moved my simplified solenoid rack behind the ABS.
http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s.../IMAGE_164.jpg turbo control x 2, charge control, charge relief, and purge control. I'm debating on whether to eliminate the purge control solenoid altogether but it fits in here for now. The pre-turbo/wastegate lines are driven by MBC's located near the primary turbo inlet. Just a guess, but a simple heat shield should help with the UIM location. I worry a little about the movement of the motor vs the firewall as it may come too close to the rack. |
Witch simplified vacume diagram are you using in your upgrade?
Looks anyway very nice:) |

Finally after all the moving this week i finished up the car, it is running better then ever no more 3k hesitation big bonus! I am very happy with how everything turned out and I was very supprised how well it runs on the factory computer. Just thought I would let everyone know how its running. Thanks for all the response.

Very neat. I like it.
Would you know if this system is adaptable to a late model JDM with the solenoid box? |
