Simplified Seq Question
Hello,
I was looking through the different diagrams of the simplified sequential and saw that on one diagram, Solenoid A (Pressure Regulator), is there and on the other, it's not. Can anyone tell me which one is the correct diagram? Also, how many ft of hose do I need for simplified seq? Also, what is the recommended caps to use? I have a feeling those autozone ones will melt. I ran across the same issues when I was looking through those disagrams, I use the second one as it's a lot easier to read
The pressure regulator solenoid is used to help start the car during hot starts. From the fuel pressure regulator, the vacuum hose that comes off it goes to the solenoid and when the fuel reaches a certain temp, the solenoid will activate and cut off the vacuum supply the regulator would normally get when trying to start the car if the solenoid was deactivated. I removed it to simply my engine bay/wiring harness because I've read about many owners removing it without issues. If you remove it, just run a vacuum hose from the nipple on the pressure regulator to a nipple somewhere on the UIM/LIM Also, I got the high temp caps from Mcmaster Carr online. |
i just went through this and cleaned up the previous owners setup and used Rotary Resurrection write up as a guide.
Rotary Resurrection home of the budget rebuild. used Banzai racing block off plates, good price, customer service and fast shipping. Ordered EPDM caps from McCaster Not sure if i used all those sizes though - 5/32 -1/4 -3/8 also order silicon vac hoses from McCaster - 1/8 ID, 1/4 OD - Bought 10ft of this stuff. Used it for the light teal lines on the 2nd diagram, The lines are from the two housings to the turbo inlet. Not sure if you have a boost gauge yet but I would get silicon hose for it also. Think mine is 3/8 but can check later. Also i would use brass tees from the pet store if you have to T anything. Good luck |

If you haven't started yet and working with OEM vacuum hose, know that it can be tough to remove from the various nipples. TAKE YOUR TIME and search here for the different methods discovered for getting them off without breaking those nipples. You'll also want some decent small zip-ties or save the really small clamps for those hoses seeing pressure.

Thank you Jim, I actually broke the wastegate control solenoid nipple a few months ago when I was replacing a worn silicone line. I have a bunch of spares so I'll definitely take my time with it.

Are you sure tgats correct I thought out fpr was a rising rate fpr and that waas the.line that dictated the rate at boost

Mine were so rock-hard that I actually used dremel with a small cutting wheel. Made small cuts length-ways in the hose over the nipple. Then inserted a small flat screwdriver and twisted. There's other ways, but it worked for me...hose almost always broke away clean.

For vacuum caps, 9/64" OD for the regular vacuum nipple, McMaster-Carr part #6448K73, 3/16" OD for wastegate actuator, McMaster-Carr part #6448K76. Get some nice 4mm silicone hose for the solenoid job, I just finished mine couple weeks ago and I got 20' of it and have maybe 2' left, but big chunk of it was used to hook up the EBC, had to run a line from the bay to the cabin. Not sure what BC you are planning to run, my PRofec B came with 6mm fitting so I ordered 15' of 6mm silicone hose for the wastegate to solenoid connections, if I do it again I would order some 5mm, the 6mm one are a bit loose, I had to double ziptie each connection to make sure they don't come off when I pull it.
For the rats nest, not sure if you are working on the rack on or off the car, I did mine off the car. To get the old hose off the solenoid or any nipple, I simply use a small pryer, grip on to the end of the hose closest to the solenoid and slowly rotate the hose back and forth, you don't have to turn the hose a lot just move it slightly and after a few turns you should hear the hose break lose from the nipple, then just twist it with your hand and pull it off, works for me all the time on any solenoid I have worked on, never broke a nipple. |
