Simple question

Hey guys and gals, Im new to this forum and I am also saving to buy a FD in the not so distant future.

Anyways, I have a question that you might find extremely simple or stupid.
When you have a Twin Turbo and you want to buy a bigger turbo (ex. Garrett GT35R), do you need to purchase 2 turbos, or do you need to convert to a single Turboed engine? How does this work?

Thank you
Steve

You remove the entire stock twin turbo assembly off the passenger side of the motor, and install a single turbo kit (complete with manifold, wastegate, downpipe, etc) onto that same motor.

You will also need a plethora of other mods to run the single properly: engine management, fuel injectors, fuel pump, clutch.......

so would you say that if you want high horsepower for your car in the long run, it would be better to purchase a single turbo engine to begin with?

^ There's no "single turbo engine," but yah it would be better to start off with a single turbo'd car or one setup to be capable of running a single turbo. Just makes things a lot cheaper that way.

Don't worry about Adam. Some of our members are not very patient with newbs. Adam has told all of us off at some time or another. He means well, I think :squint:

For the record, there are no *factory* single turbo setups on FDs but there are plenty of single turbo FDs for sale that were modified by their owners. *Aftermarket parts heaven* is a good way to describe FDs. Lots of gimmics, gizmos, bells and whistles :)

Read the faq in the 3rd gen section to get a good idea of what mods are highly recommended. You can try to buy one with the mods in place or get a mostly stock one and have the mods done yourself.

P.S. Don't bring up anything with Adam involving air pockets in your cooling system. Trust me. :rlaugh:

HAHA! thx for the heads up.

Sorry for my newb thread guys, and once again (i think this is the third time that i say this) thx for all of your responses (well i guess some of them). :)
