side mirrors

Does anyone know how to get behind the side mirrors without breaking them. I have two screws loose and the mirror (not the entire housing) shakes but I can't get a screw driver underneath the mirror to tighten them.

Im lost maybe...

You fold the mirrors and tighten the screws.

the screws are the ones that hold the whole unit down and you can't get a screwdriver under the mirror and on to the screw. Can the mirror part come out?

what he means is how do you get the actual mirror glass out of the housing, to which I've also had trouble.

You have to do it from inside the door....get a service manual. You can download one for free from www.iluvmyrx7.com (section S)

there is 1 screw behind the peice of glass, and lots of adhesive holding the glass to the black plastic surround. that screw may be loose. really the only way to get to it is to take the glass off, which is almost impossible without breaking it. my younger brother hit mine with a baseball last week. they are $50 bucks a pop from a dealiership, so be careful if your gonna attempt to take it off.

The shop manual says to use a heat gun on the mirror to get it off.

The mirror housing pivots down to access the mounting screws. There is a mounting base that mounts to the door from the inside, then the mirror housing attaches to the mounting base from the outside with 2 screws, to access these screws grab the mirror housing and rotate the top of the mirror housing downwards toward the rear of the car....twist the drivers side housing clockwise, and the passenger side couterclockwise.
