should I worry

maybe you guys can help me out here, I have a 94fd auto, bone stock, 54,000 miles. I have had the car a year. I know some smoking is normal on startup but how much is too much? Recently it has gotten alot worse, before it was white now it starts off blue for about a minute, then turns to heavy, heavy white for about 5 minutes or more and then dark gray to black. The idle is also missing , and lumpy I guess would be the best word to describe it. The oil is at the same place it was when I got my oil changed about 900 miles ago, and my coolant hasn't gone anywhere. My heater also works on and off . I have never had a compression test done, and my mechanic said that's normal ( it has been cold here 20 to 30 degrees)in cold weather and since it goes away not to worry about it. I have driven it in cold weather before and it's never had blue smoke, or the amount it is having now. I have a warranty that runs out in february and it covers the seals and other stuff, so I'm not sure if I should get a second opionion. The guy I go to now is real cool, and seems to know alot about cars but I'm just uneasy about it. any help would be appreciated. thanks

white smoke generally indicates coolant (water) getting into the combustion chamber....not good...could be blown coolant seals....I've heard Block Seal works as a good temporary to semi-permanent band-aid....just make sure you follow ALL the directions...good luck
