Should I have a vacuum line here?
Looking around I noticed this today. I don't recall any open points on my solenoid rack on my 1st gen, but I don't know this one as well.
|
can you describe better where we are looking at or take a more zoomed out picture?
|
That looks like the aproximate location of the auto tranny only vacuum line. I assume that is te only one you can see?
|
I just went out and looked at my car. That is behind the alternator...i should have looked a bit more at the picture. Anyway, there are no nipples in that general area on my 5 speed. Hoses there run to my vac and pressure chambers. BTW, thanks for the post...when i went out and looked for you...i found one of my hoses that just popped off! haha

I tried posting a more zoomed out pic, having connection issues here.

Well, that link isn't going to work. We'll try this one.

sorry there's no way anyone is going to be able to tell which hose that is by just those 2 pics.
Is it coming off of the first solenoid on the rack? What is your boost pattern like? this should help a lot: http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/v...placement.html |
OK, that doesn't look like the auto pipe. The auto pipe one is curved a bit.
|
It looks like it may be the hose that goes from the pipe to the charge relief solenoid. The one on the top of the rack. It should have a black conector. Just to be sure though.... check that the hoses off the pressure tank,(the one on top of the engine) are hooked up. One goes to the y-pipe and has a check valve in line(green and black) The other hose goes to the rats nest in that general location. Good luck!! I'll look threw my pics of the last vaccum hose job i did. I have some good pics if you want to give me your email adress. PM me if you do...Aloha

Boost pattern is off. My secondary is slow coming on/doesn't come on, especially in first gear. It does appear to be the 1st solenoid.
|
Go ahead are unbolt the pressure tank(two bolts)..it gives you a much better view of whats going on down there including a pretty good view of the rats nest.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or have patience,.... do or have a silicon hose job done on your engine. You already have a problem with one cracked/missing vacc hose, Might as well do them all! I don't know of anyone(shops) in Atlanta. But there are a couple in Florida, if you want to take a vacation! Buy a factory service manual and search on here for some hose diagrams. BUT if you replace ONE hose at a time you shouldn't have any problems. Just be carefull NOT to break off the nipples on the solenoids!! If you happen to break some off,( we ALL have done this before) you can get them from Ray Crowe @ Malloy Mazda 1-888-533-3400 Rx7 Store is the place to get the hose kit. Good luck!
|
Forgot to say that if you remove the rats nest from the engine during the job, It makes life MUCHHHHH easier. Less bending over the engine bay! Easier to get to and see. Plus you can check your fuel pulsation damper on the primary fuel rail.( these usually leak and cause big BBQ !!!!!)

It looks to me like the auto only pipe.. Don't worry.

Also, the Auto line opens vertically were as that one is horizontal. cletus, There are a few lines right in that area. What you are going to have to do is: 1st: Check to see how many lines you have running into the front of your UIM. You should have 4 lines (3 normal vacuum lines and one larger PCV from the oil filler neck). If you only have 3, you know where that one goes. 2nd: If all the lines into the UIM are there, you are going to have to remove the UIM. If it's the line I think, it should be fairly short and you should either see a hanging hose or the other side where one needs to connect. |
1st. snook, I know it's a 5sp. On a 5sp it would be open.
2nd. Take a look at this pic, the empty pipe does start vert., but then it goes horz. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=2178469 |
