Short vid of my car running...for once!

Well, 3400miles, still running strong. I'm stuck at 12psi until Steve Kan flies back out here.

1st gear had crazy wheel hop, it was on low boost (~8psi)

that is the stock blow off valve, i have mounted it where the passenger side oil cooler is/was

comments welcome

3rdgendream 07-20-04 09:41 PM

93blackFD, your car sounds so nice. On the street, it sounded killer, and the stock BOV sounded awesome.

That was alot of wheel hop, what you gonna do to fix it?

93BlackFD 07-21-04 01:21 AM

i'm installing my TII diff next weekend, going to get urethane diff mounts too

that's down/reasonated mid/greddy SP catback, i'm going to do the gotham racing resonated midpipe next, it is a little beefier than the one i have

RX-187 07-21-04 01:35 AM

Beautiful car. Good to see it running. It sounded good. I can't wait to hear about and see some ownage by that car :D. When you get the Gotham midpipe on can you get a sound clip? Thanks man.

cloud9 07-21-04 02:42 AM

ugh!! I hate my car being broken, congrats on getting yours working I hope to be getting mine back on the road with in this life time

BigIslandSevens 07-21-04 03:10 AM

Sounds very nice Brian! Good thing that diff is going in there soon;)

Better check your axles for cracks as well. And your pinion shaft gear.
J/K man, just remembering my wheelhop!! Dirty is the only word that comes to mind.

oh yes...water/alky injection got installed this week, going to wrap that up today and take it out for a spin, my AEM c2di should be here by friday, just waiting on my 25row to show up so I can get the oil cooler in and hit the dyno.

i've been doing oil samples on the motor, and the bearings are fullly broken in at this point, the rotary aviation seals put lots of chromium in the oil, but i suppose that was while they were breaking into the rotor housings, i'm still seeing traces of chromium about in the oil, i'll post mileage when this stops occuring

I guess you figured your AEM out then? Mine worked great for about a month but it recently just stopped working (left me stranded...luckily I had planned for this and made a bypass cable and left it in the car).

93BlackFD 07-21-04 08:46 AM

actually that's an interesting story jspecracer7, the AEM died on me once, got car towed, used bypass plug, sent back, they returned and said it bench tested okay

i put it in, did it again, this time in a parking deck, after about 5mins of driving, sent it back, but this time i put paint marker on screw heads to see if they would actually work on it---which i found later, that they cannot repair/work on them, beacuse the interior is potted with epoxy, so it's unrepairable

i got it back, untouched, looks like they simply bench tested it again (at room temperature...)

called and explained that i would not run this in my car, and that i wanted it replaced, they sent i back again, untouched

got in touch with a manager, named "kurt miller@extension 237", he apologized completely and is overnighting me a brand new one, harness and all :D so we will see

Oh man that makes me want to paint my car black soo bad. Awesome job, I had no idea the stock blow off valves were that loud i need to vent them to the atmosphere.

93BlackFD 07-21-04 02:09 PM

and mount it outside the engine bay :)

Interesting indeed. Where did you mount your AEM? I mounted mine on top of my FMIC....away from all the engine bay heat since the IC should stay as cool as possible. It's such a weird problem too. It would work great for about a minute or two. Then I would get a complete failure. I'd wait about 5-10 minutes and it would fire back up again and then it would do the same thing...work for a minute and then die.

Where did you go to get all the information about sending the AEM out to a repair shop? I may have to do the same as you and get mine repaired.
