Shift Select Spindle install /fd

is it possible to install the Shift Select Spindle without removing the transmission? fd

you mean the shifter itself? if so, yes it is done from inside the cab. you have to remove the console. search short shifter install.

From memory yes. I remember it being a pain to get at least one of the screws tho, but did get at it. You should be able to see it from underneath to see how much of a pain it is to get to

^This. From memory seems like at least one of the 10mm bolts is right up against the tunnel and a bit difficult to get too, but it's doable. You might be able to pull the PPF and pull/flex the transmission down a little if needed.

While removing it , I am assuming some oil will get out of the gearbox,

can I refill the missing oil from the stick shift compartment/ inside the car or should I refill FROM THE GEARBOX ...

You'll have to pull the shifter to replace any lost gear oil. The shifter reservoir is separate from the rest of the transmission. Good time to re-grease the shifter ball and lower bushing while you're at it.

Thanks for the infos!

There's a rod from the shifter that engages various dogs that engage the gears. The spindle and counter spring help the shifter engage these dogs. Dave Geesaman does a good writeup
