Serious problems

I just dropped in my new motor about a week ago and it fired up on the first crank. I've been driving it for about a week and stopped to get gas, after I left the gas station I started heading home on the interstate and my car felt like it had no power. When I put it in neutral the car died, so I coasted to the side. I tried starting it again and it started running on one rotor (or at least sounded like it). A sinking feeling started in my stomach as I started thinking (my fucking motor blew...again when I'm just fucking cruising) I looked at my boost gauge and the vacuum is holding steady at a vacuum of 15mmhg (I guess thats what it is), I remember last time it blew the vacuum was bouncing around at idle and couldn't even hold an idle without me pressing on the gas pedal...in this instance, it holds idle perfectly fine at around 900 or 1000 without me doing anything. I changed my plugs today thinking that they were fouled out (they were pretty black) started the car and its still doing the same thing. I switched to stock ignition and bypassed the twinpower and still did the same thing...I swapped out coilpacks for a spare set and still did the same thing. When I tried starting it again in my driveway, I noticed randomly the commander for the power fc wasn't displaying all of a sudden...and now the car just turns over and doesn't want to start. I'm extremely livid right now and can't think straight because of this shit. I now have a few questions that need answering
1. Is the motor blown when it doesn't show the typical signs in the boost gauge of the fluttering vacuum and still starts up really easily on the first crank?
2. Is my power fc fried which could explain why it started acting up very randomly and now will only crank over?
3. Did I get a bad tank of gas that started making my car run on one rotor and I need to empty the tank?
4. Where does the ground that attatches to the block from the starter harness go? I have it on the middle iron above the bolt that goes to the coolant passage.

is your map sensor still connected to the vacuum line?

KaiFD3S 07-03-09 06:21 PM

That would be the first thing to check is the line to your MAP Sensor...

^+1, check MAP sensor first.

I wouldnt waste your time after that, do a compression test before looking at anything else.

If compression is good then start looking for the needle in the hay stack...

Good luck,

Any updates? How is the compression?

It was probably the map sensor line, since i was holding steady vacuum at idle.

I already checked the map sensor (I was hoping it was that when this first happened...everything is nice and snug). I haven't been able to do a compression check yet....I've been working nonstop since the incident...luckily I have a DD. I'll try to do a compression check monday, plus I'll check my main fuse or whatever its called...I remember the blew out one time and I think the car just cranked over and the power fc didn't have power. Any more suggestions for me do while I'm checking compression?

Small update...I checked my fuses...again and noticed that my EGI fuse is blown. I swapped it with the other 30A fuse and it blew again...I'm assuming I have a short somewhere. My question is does this also send power to the ecu? If not, then what does?
