Modifying a Series 8 is very similar to the Series 6. Follow the same recommendations and you should be fine. The advantage we have over the earlier model is that everything is a lot more reliable so you won't be spending half your money on fixing the dam car trying to make it reliable. That means more money for mods.

Read the FAQ and it'll tell you in order what you should mod, again it is your choice what you do.

Genuinely interest to know what you mean by this? Could you list what was made more reliable? Cheers.

The fact its a 99+ spec FD... parts are much newer and will last longer, therefore, won't need to be replaced... (yet)

So mileage has nothing to do with it? So therefore a 99+ with say 70K miles will last longer than a 96 model with say 30K miles? :Wconfused

Well the 99 spec has better cooling and intercooling that contributes to reliability. They also have the better insulated black box in the rats nest. While I don't know too much about the 99 spec parts, my impression has been that aftermarket parts (AST, intercooler, radiator, etc) are still quite a bit better.

However, it's still got all the same basic stuff. Both mileage and age remain a factor - while mileage is the biggest indicator age should not be ignored.

Was just interested as we currently have just brought over a 2001 RX-7 from Japan and comparing it to our existing 94 R2 cant really see much significant improvement at all apart from slightly better ducting.

Engine is blown too @ 77K kilometers.

Leighton, how does the series 6 compare to the series 8 performance, handling, driveability wise?
