sequential - non sequential switch
I remember along time ago about somone putting somthing together or had the idea on how you could make a switch were you could switch from sequential to non-sequential electronically or somthing Anyone remember this or know if its even posible?

from what i was told be another member, doing a non-seq doesnt help whatsoever for track driving, according to him you have the same amount of top end and everything, just no bottom end.. true?

im in the process of doing that mod. i have the 2 relays and switch, and have it all wired up outside the car. I just need to find a place to mount the switch, then wire it to the ecu. i'll probably get around to it this weekend

Somedude2k - let me know how the switch works. Also have you done any timed runing before and after the non-seq?

I tried the switch thingy ones and I couldn't get power at all. It didn't want to switch from the non-seq to seq and stuff like that.

I have done the true non sequential conversion, and there is definitely more top end. I associate this with the fact that I removed the restrictive turbo control door and the charge control butterfly. The exhaust manifold and wastgate were ported also.
Before I did the full conversion, I did the poor mans non sequential conversion first. It spooled by 3500 and pulled hard to redline, felt much faster than sequential (once over 3k rpms). No psi dip at 4700 when 2nd turbo was fully online.:D Also, remember, with 2 turbo's online at lower rpms, there is actually more air being forced through the intake at any given psi:confused: . Its all about the cfm's baby (and volumetric efficiency, i know). People always say that non sequential is bad for autox, but I think they are wrong:eek: , I don't know about you guys, but I did not like the surge of pressure at about 3k rpms in 1st/2nd gear with the sequential setup, makes that back end a little loose in the switchbacks. Plus who stays under 3500 during auto xing????? If so, you need to drop a gear. I much prefer the smooth delivery of boost from about 2500 rpms to 3500. Also, I know my transmission benefits during daily driving. Shifting seems so much easier on the tranny when under light load. Also, throttle control is much more accurate without the turbo xover. Oh, and I doubt a switch will work for our setup. It would require clever use of electronic or pnuematic actuators. Someone probably tried this because you can do it on a mkiv supra (damn I miss my tt supey) |
