Secondary is only boosting 8 ??
check my sign 4 mods, car runs like a dream.. boost 10 8 and it stays there... no boost leak no nothing... car pulls hard, but i have no clue... all lines were changed.. and yeah :( still dont know.. what it could be... I punched it hard.. 10-8- next thing you know it went to 5 for some reason ???
wtf ?? any ideas?? any 1. |
i had this problem.. after 4000 other previous problems... so i sold the car :) best decision of my life so far

Start here mate
http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm In this situation id be first tempted to check the charge releif valve if it isnt closing completly it could be leaking your boost ever so slightly (maybe the electric solenoid that controls the charge releif is faulty),,, ive never seen a charge releif valve fail so quite possibly the solenoid. You sure the pipe connected to the 2nd turbo has no leaks maybe the gasket or maybe the nuts need nipping up there?? .......... and lastly the only thing remaining is the Turbo control actuator the big silly one on the bottom of the turbo (i could beleive that one of the 2 solenoids that control this are faulty causing either the pressure or the vacume side not to respond)?? |
Make sure your wastegate solenoid and vacuum lines are hooked up properly. No crossed hoses.
Also check the CRV hoses, especially look for boost leaks on this hose. Verify the check valve under the pressure chamber is working properly. Dave |
cool, and Could it be this right here ?? http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-7/crv.jpg
I have a hKS bov.. that replace the stock one but i still have one of these left .. should i get read of it by taking that hose off or what?? |
No, keep it there. That's the CRV - if you remove it you'll have zero secondary.
Don't go changing stuff in there unless you take the time to understand every component and it's fucntion Dave |
I see. I was reading this one other thread a while back i even replied to it.. the guy wanted to add an after market BOV and asked if he should remove that..... some 1 said yeah go ahead.. if there's no air coming out of that one after I block it.. how am I gon have 0 boost .??
|
Right mate a bit of explaining... u need to have a good read of that site i gave you it explains how the turbo system works.
Anyway ill explain:- the charge releif valve (the one you have left like a blow off valve but not the HKS one),,, its purpose is to let the air generated by the 2nd turbo bleed off until you reach 4500 (transition point) at this point an electrical solenoid is supposed to switch off the vacuume that is been supplied to port "A" (keeping the valve open)...thus closing the valve and letting the 2nd turbo boost be added to the first (if it stays open you will in affect have a leak) To check it you shouldnt be able to blow to blow through (C or B) unless a vacuume is applied to "A". But id be more concerned about the solenoid that controls it (probably sticking)... To quickly add... if you removed the valve you will have a massive leak in the 2nd boost system (so when you hit 4500 you will loose all boost :-( ) If you were to block it you would be blocking the 2nd turbo from pre-spooling before you hit 4500 again this would be very bad (you would probably have a boost pattern like 10 - 2 - 8 ) because the 2nd turbo is having to spin from scratch (no pre-spool) understand?? |

wtf ?? any ideas?? any 1. wow you went from an h22 turboed crx to an rx7? |
quick question: This can all be solved by converting to non-sequential (poorman or full) right? Or will he still have problems?
|
I gotta question also...
Sooooo, I have this 8psi problem with tha primary turbo. Tha psi slowly goes up to 10psi tha closer I get to tha 4500 transition point. Once I hit 4500rpms, its hits 10psi, and then goes to tha usualy 12 on tha 2nd turbo.
From what I get out of this thread, I dont look at tha CRV b/c it deals with tha 2nd turbo. I should be looking at tha Wastegate Solenoid / Actuator or tha Turbo Pre-Control Solenoid and Turbo Pre-control Actuator correct? |
yer buffdaddy you are correct the CRV does not affect the primary,,, sounds like you have a leak in the system, either with the air system (Y pipe? possibly the rubber "O" ring that seals the primary and secondary turbo, or maybe the turbo gasket),,, or maybe like you said a problem with the actuators. The things i would look at if i had a low primary boost would be
1) leaks in the air pipes 2)make sure the acuator is pre-tensioned correctly (maybe the gate isnt completly closed causing low primary boost) probably not this though. 3) Have a look at the prespool actuator and possibly the prespool solenoid (might be jarred open venting to much of the primary exaust) 4) And defo check the big turbo control actuator (the big one on the bottom) make sure the door is closed, again it could be leaking exaust from the primary. 5) might want to check the solenoids that control the actuator but seen as you get an ok secondary boost cant see this been the problem. |
could likely be solved by going non-sequential. i've had mine the poor man's way for like 4 years now, no complaints (a little more lag, but nothing intollerable).

Or, the turbo control door isn't closing fully and thus robbing some boost from the primary.

^^True, dat...
