Secondary boost/transition problem, help!

I've exhausted my resources here, sounds like the CRV isn't closing quickly at transition as I hear what sounds like almost an external wastegate as the boost continues to drop @ changeover, 9-8-7-6-5~psi, then the noise goes away and I have full secondary boost (after a small spike), sometimes @ 5000rpm, sometimes 5500 sometimes 6000!

I found the CRV solenoid had a busted nipple so I replaced that thinking it would solve it and it did for a few pulls (this problem is intermittent anyway), so something else is up, couplers look ok and I never have a problem maintaining full 10psi from the primary (indicative of no boost leaks?)

Has silicone lines, no codes stored in ecu, no drivability issues, mods are intakes/dp/catback

I had the same problem when I purchased my 3rd Gen. I took it to JPR in South Jersey and Jim fixed it. I had a glued together"Broken" Boost Control solenoid, and a few vacuum lines that popped off.
I was going to get the vacuum lines zipped tied off anyway"for reliability reasons".
Had it all done and now I have been running with full boost 12-8-12(little higher than stock). For 3 months now.
Good Luck

Also every once and a while if i nudge the throttle it won't go into positive pressure on the primary, will stop @ 0, doesn't happen very often, if i let go and try again then it works

going to start looking closely tonight, what could be making the noise then the noise disappear and full boost returns? (highly doubt boost leak, too low pitched)

Ok, I took the CRV off completely and when reinstalling I noticed two slits at the bottom of the 1" dia short hose that goes directly from the ypipe to the inlet of the CRV itself, i'm using a worm clamp and i'm not sure if it was already cut when i removed it (had to wrestle a little bit), when I removed the vacuum line from the CRV I hear a lot of air come out so the vacuum tank is working? As it stands I can get secondary every gear, but it's laggy... boost immediately drops to 4-5psi @ 4500 and between then and 5000 i hear a noise of air rushing I think then it spikes and holds full secondary boost to redline, it's like a really laggy transition w/ some extra noise

prolly that small hose from ypipe to crv (the thick one that carries pressure)?

If it rushes when you pull the small hose from the actuator, then yeah you're getting good vacuum.

The cuts in that hose could definitely ruin your prespool and make the transition laggy. So change that hose and see if things improve. But poke around the y-pipe and make sure none of the other hoses are leaking or brittle and cracked.

Well now it just whooshes 4500+ and I maintain about 2psi on secondary (10psi on primary), ordered a new y-pipe to crv hose from ray hopefully it's all leaking out of there...

It's definitely a boost leak that ONLY affects secondary, I can "smell" and hear the leak when I leave it floored through the gear, once it goes back into primary-only mode no leaks and it builds 10psi quickly

Secondary doesn't come into play till the CRV closes and the little flapper door on the y-pipe (it's in the little J-pipe off the secondary turbo) when that opens then all your boost can leak at the hose to the CRV (1 inch) hose and cause quite a leak and make quite a bit of noise. You could actually plug that fitting on the y-pipe (just to see if that's your secondary leak) secondary may lag a bit as it won't pre-spool as quickly but should yield full boost pressure and confirm your problem.

Does anyone know why the solenoid is used to control the wastegate? Mine apparently isn't working, so I bypassed it and ran the pressure directly to the wastegate, which keeps pressure at 10 PSI (as opposed to the 18 PSI I was seeing before).
