Seatbelts

My driver side seatbelt is stuck in the locking mechanism and so for the last two days I have been crawling in and out of my car. Needless to say this is not very fun and doesn't give me the safest feeling. I am wondering if anyone knows if there is any type of lifetime warranty on the seatbelt? If not I am just going to put a five point in. Are there any write-ups on how to install a five point seatbelt or can some one just tell me the best mounting points? Thanks.

That of course is if you do not have a roll bar/cage.

Not sure how it is in Canada, but in the US, 5 point harnesses are not DOT approved, except for Schroth harnesses. Even then, I'm not sure which Schroth harnesses have DOT approval.

M2 has a rear strut tower bar that has been reinforced and has mounting points for a racing harness.

I was looking at the M2 rear strut tower brace. Is there any reason why I shouldn't just attach the harness to the existing strut tower brace?

because strut tower bars are meant to hold the strut towers together with push/pulling force. If you start putting hundreds of pounds of force in a different direction, it's not going to last very long. Open up the covers to your strut tower, and look at the bar. Do you really want to trust your life to something that small?

I wonder if you just need a new seat belt buckle. It's directly bolt on the floor with 1 bolt so if that's faulty and you can somehow get the buckle off of the belt, you're all set.

Well after lots of WD-40 and some fidling I got it unstuck and it seams to work now, but who knows for how long. Knowing mazda it would cost three times as much to get a new locking mechanism then it would to do a four or five point set up.

First, what color do you have? If tan and you want one cheap, let me know (PM or blackttrx7@aol.com). I have NEVER had any problems with it. If you want to try Mazda, call for this (assuming driver's side is the left):

Seat Belt Side Buckle
Part # FD01-57-680B-17

I have it listed at 52.30, but usually mazda is 5-15 over the price in the parts sheet I have.
