Seat Belt Replacement?
 

Other than the dealer, is there a source for seatbelts? I looked at Mazdatrix & Mazdaformance & Carparts, nothin there. I'm looking to replace my passenger belt because the safety stitching has come undone over the past 11 years.

I know this is going to sound generic, but try the for sale section and see if anyone is parting out a car and is willing to sell you one.

But that still leaves me with a seatbelt that has a decade of wear. I'm looking for something a little newer :)

Another option, especially if you do autocross or track events would be the 4-point Schroth belts. Schroth is the only harness manufacturer I am aware of that goes to the trouble to get DOT approval of their belts - this makes them street-legal - though a little more expensive. You would need a harness bar for this option. You can add the sub strap later for a full 5-point harness. http://www.schroth.com/english/container_english.htm

That is not true. Schroth harnesses are only DOT approved for a few certain vehicles. Installing Schroth harnesses in an FD with an aftermarket harness bar is NOT DOT approved.

Thanks, rynberg - you are correct. A Schroth system is DOT approved for the FC, but not the FD. Sorry, hyperite - that's not an option, after all.

Are there any other Mazda's that used a seat belt similar to the one in the FD?

I only knew that because I have recently spent a bit of time trying to find a DOT approved harness -- to no avail.

Hyperite: You can get a new seat belt from Malloy or Mazdaformance for about $120-125. Just give them a call.
