Seafoam
I have a can of Seafoam im bought to use in my 300zx before i sell it. I did a search on the forums and couldnt find anything about using it on a rotary engine though. Has anyone ever used it?

do the water treatment.

Care to explain what that is?

I think it fairly pointless unless you are having an issue, but here you go:

if i remember correctly, there was thread this person used seafoam...the motor blew like a few days later
unrelated...probably, but thought ud like to know |
seafoam does messup rotaries.
|
Anyone know why it messes up rotaries?
|
Check the first gen forums. They use it lots.
I've actually used it in my FD before. I haven't had any problems. |
I use seafoam on my 79 sa all the time with great results, as for the Fd Iam a little more togards the steam treatment because of the turbos(havent done it yet) and the cat.

Used it already on my FD and it works well. Make sure you suck it into both nipples on the top of the upper intake manifold.

people from the first and second gen forums recomment to "dump a can in 1/4 gas tank and drive it hard like you stole it"
I wonder how good / dangerous that would be to an FD motor? |
i do both chambers at once, y 'd into a single vac hose, and pinch with my finger letting in a good amount at a time holding about 3-4k rpm, lettign the engine clear out before i let it suck more each time. I've done it about 3 times since i've rebuilt the engine to help keep carbon from building up and has worked wonders, gas mileage goes up a bit everytime :) it's more dangerous to older motors that have never been decarbed due to sometimes the carbon is what's holding everythign together still... break it loose and your compression cashes out. Happens to rx8's all the time. if you keep it carbon free it's great. do it on a low compression motor that 50K plus and just got deflooded b/c of low comp... 9 times outta 10, a rotor cashes out and 9 times outta 10 it's the rear rotor.....
personaly. i love seafoam. works great in oil pan on piston engines. dont' dare to use it in the rx7's oil b/c they inject it and i dont' wanna this it out too much :P Clos |
