SDC Blitz dual boost controller

Anybody know how to tune this damn thing?

WTF is gain, and what should I set it at? While we are at it. Do I set the ratio?

If it makes any difference. I have a single turbo'd FD, and would like to set it to run about 13 pounds of boost.

Also if anyone has english directions that would be nice.

Thanks

gain is to control boost spike

Uhhhh..okay. Any idea of what range to set at?

FD3RotorTurbo 11-08-03 04:12 PM

it just depends, i have the Greddy spec II, but when i set mine i jus drove around and keep messing with it till i got it right, if spike occurs then set it down, and if boost starts to die then turn it up a little. I dont really have a solid number for you, me and my 2 friends all have ours set at different numbers and are all running the same amount of boost. so you kinda jus have to play with it.

The settings are based upon your wastegate spring rate. I have a 10 pound spring and here is how I have mine set.

Set to WG

Channel 1 - 10psi
Manual
Set 0
Gain 28

Channel 2 - 12 psi
Manual
set 20 (adds 20% to spring - 10lb spring +20% = 12)
Gain 28

Channel 3 - 14 psi
Manual
Set 40
Gain 28

Channel 4 - 16 psi
Manual
Set 60
Gain 28

I havent started to mess with the gain yet since my boost builds fast and I have no spikes but I imagine there is some performance to be had here.

Of course as always this is just how I have it - not necessarily the right way...

You have been a great help here thank you for getting me started.

Now the business :) I do not really know what my spring is set at. but the boost controller is showing me running a max of about 1.07 pounds of boost. So about 16pounds?

Does this mean my spring is a 16PSI spring?

I bought the car about 3 months ago, and was under the impression that the boost controller was working, but looks like it has not been set, and that it was only showing max boost. I am guessing the engine is tightly tuned if I did not even have the boost control on. Oh yah and lucky too? :D

Anyways, should I just try and set the "SET" to 5 and see which way the boost moves?

Can I set it -5 or something like that?

Sorry for the stupid quesitons, but I would rather sound like an idiot, than pop my engine.

turn the controller to off and see where you boost at, that should tell you your spring rate.

Thats just my point. I think it has been off all this time, and I didn't know it.

There are no settings in it at all. The only thing it was doing was reading max boost

shawnk 11-09-03 07:14 AM

You can probably adjust the spring tension on the wastegate depending on what brand. I adjusted mine down to 10 to make the math easy. The controller can only control the boost from spring weight to 2 times spring weight so you want to set your spring so that range meets your needs. I think some wastegates require the purchase/installation of a new spring.

Okay, as best I can tell my spring is set at 16PSI. I say this because my boost controller is off, and this is what I am boosting at.

I have a blitz WG. Can I use any spring from any Manufacture, to take my boost down?

I would like to use a spring to set the car normally at 10PSI, and then would like to use the boost controller. to put in the boost settings

Am I on the right track here?

shawnk 11-21-03 07:11 PM

You are on the right track....What is your goal? a 10 psi spring will only get you a 20 max and that is not much higher than 16. I have had mine to 17 but it didnt feel right so I run 12-14 most of the time now.

Did you find a spring or adjustment for your existing spring?

I talked with a guy at Blitz about the spring situation. Basically, I have a bolt that is screwed TDC into the Wastegate. If I back this out, it will supposedly adjust the spring rate.

I have not had the chance to play with it, but this is my plan, as blitz does not seem to offer any springs seperately.

I will post, when I get it figured out in case any one else has this wastegate.

Another guy on the forum gave me a good set of directions for the boost controller, and I think I know how to set it.

Here is some additional information if anybody needs info on tuning the blitz boost controller

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/S...bc_manual.html

Jesuscookies 11-29-03 12:08 AM

The bolt did nothing.

I tried calling blitz to get a 10PSI spring. They do not stock springs, for their E56 wastegate, and have to "CHECK" for me to see if they can get one from Japan. I am looking at 2 to 4 Months if I am lucky.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Can I rig another spring? I do not want to be the first guy to blow a motor trying to figure out which springs work with which wastegates.

HELP!!!!!

i have a spec s but i haven't used it yet. i was using a sbc-id in my FD all i did was set the boost i wanted and set the limiter so it didn't boost too high. all you have to do is go on the highway and do a few runs and it learns boost curve. on my FD it spike .1 psi!!! this was after it learned the pattern. i love that boost controller best thing i ever bought

sorry i can't be more help on the model you actually have

Vosko,

I am not too worried, about the boost controller doing its job. I am worried about too much boost, because the wastegate spring is set at 16PSI, and I cannot find a lower set spring.

do you have that wacky australian wastegate with 3 springs in it ?

i know ihor and 40oz both had problems at first getting it to open at the correct boost

No, its a Blitz E56 wastegate, that is part of the Blitz KKK27 turbo kit. The last owner apparently ordered the kit with a 16PSI spring. I did not figure this out until I tried to set my Boost Controller.

I would like to be able to run 10PSI for normal street driving, and 16PSI for "Whoop Ass Mode", but no one has a Blitz 10PSI Spring, so I was wondering if I could use another manufacter's spring, like HKS, or the like? Will this cause problems? are they just standard springs that all Wastegates use?

every spring is different unfortunately. i purchased a new spring for my wastegate so i could also run 10psi of boost on the street. honestly 16psi ain't that bad all the time... if you can't find just tune it really nice and rich and you will be fine... you will just have lots of fun driving and wasting gas that's all :D
