That's a "rocks and small children" filter :). Keeps the big stuff out. If you're making a LOT of power, you need a pretty substantial air filter to flow enough air.

While no filter makes more power, that's a VERY bad idea for engine and turbo life. You'll be sucking in a LOT of sand, grit, and dirt, and that wears directly on the compressor blades and the apex seals.

Some people do it just for looks, shows, pics. My friend has a screen but when he drives his car he puts a filter on.

I would be worried that the turbo would suck that screen into the compressor. Usually, a metal screen (that won't stretch or get soft from heat) is used in that manner. That screen looks like a major vulnerability.

I think that filter is metal.. just powdercoated blue.

Completely agree though. For dyno tunes and car shows it's fine, but driving on the street isn't too good an idea with just a screen.

Just think of how dirty air filters get.. Imagine all that going straight into the motor; bugs included..

hey rotoboy... youre going to pull alot of crap through ANY screen.... just look at a stock filter after a bit of driving. and what if you get your hand near that screen?? if that compressor is sucking hard enough id imagine your fingers would end up in there (screen or no)... and you wouldnt be able to race me and loose without your hand!! ... when's that car gonna be done? (dont ask me that question back though  ) -heath
