Scarey moment tonight
 

Drove the FD across town and had a coolant line rupture from the engine to the heater core, caused me to lose almost all of my coolant. Thank goodness I the dummy light and buzzer went off, and I immediately pulled over with the engine only getting to about 220 degrees and shut it off. I was able to fix the hose and fill it back up with water from the gas station and drive it home.


I'm done playing with 13 year old lines, I just went on mazdatrix's website and ordered all new coolant lines for the entire motor. I about had a heart attack tonight, not playing that game again that's for sure. Fuel lines have already been replaced, I should have replaced all the coolant lines as well but I got lazy. Not happening again.

I had a simular experience, do you still have the stock radiator?

If you do I highly recomend replacing it, when I got mine home, and pulled it apart, the intake pipe to the radiator (from the radiator hose) DISINIGRATED IN MY HANDS!!! (i dont think that plastic is very reliable after 10+ years of temp exposure) I replaced it with a Koyo alum racing radiator and since have seen lower and more consistent temp readings, no more spikes when pushed hard, its the best reliability upgrade I think I've done thus far.....

Yea that is on my list of things to get before summer, especially since I live in Las Vegas where the summer temps peak at 120.

Yeah this just happend to my friend as well his lower line split almost all the way up the middle!

Ray @ Malloy has them (coolant hoses) in a kit for $150.
