hello to all
Here is my question,i have a rx7 gen 3,twin turbo,which has been standing in the garage for 3 years, without being started or turned over,(due to health problems).
now the big question is what do i have to do to get her running again,is there any specific procedure i have to follow that wont do the engine damage,i know the oil will have to be changed,filters,and new fuel.
i know the trick for reconnecting the battery,resetting the ecu.but is there any thing you would recommend or know that must be done before i crank it over.

any info will be greatfully accepted.

Pull the spark plugs out, and somehow feed in some synthetic motor oil into the holes. I usually get some vacuum hose and stick it into the hole, and funnel oil in through the other end, but u can use a small turkey baster, ect be creative ;p

Once oil is in the chambers re-install the plugs, pull egi-fuse (kill the fuel pump from turning on) and crank it over a few times to hopefully lubricate the crap out of the seals. I had my rx7 sitting for 5 years or so, with a start up maybe once a year. It starts fine now, and compression is ok too. I'm in the process of resurrecting my rx7 as well. Hope this helps.

It should live ok. Mine sat in Osaka dockyards for nearly two years in the weather before we bought it and shipped it back to Australia. It had 84,000 kilometres on the odometer, and wouldnt fire. We swapped out the fouled plugs and it started up fine and idled.

I would run a stronger premix fuel in the tank once you get it running, to give the seals a chance of lubrication and sealing. Change the coolant and engine oil/filter and it should be fine. Mine went from about two years sitting, to daily driver every day for over a month now, and no dramas...

If it has been stored inside I would change the oil and fire it up. After that I would change all of the fluids after getting everything up to temp. People make starting up a car that has been sitting 2-3 yrs some kind of voodoo magic... If it sat for 10+ yrs that OS different.

I once started a Chrysler that hadnt been moved out of the garage or even had its door opened in 28 years. Wasnt such a big deal. Put a battery in it and away it went.

I knew it would start, so I took bets off my Dad & brother who said the engine would be seized. If it was seized, I paid for dinner that night. If it ran, they would pay.

I drove it on the car trailer while they shook their heads. 12 years later and many drag strip passes, and that engine is still going strong..
