rywire
just wondering if many people have had success with this harness and if its ok to use with a stock ecu. I currently have the ratnest and solenoid deleted but am in desperate need of a new engine harness.

but there are other options , Check with Fritz Flynn he may have a good OEM harness for less that has everything you may need . |
i Just ordered mine, let you know in a week!

the main things I worry about is how much can the stock ecu handle being eliminated since the rywire doesn't have connectors for the emissions (as now I have the resistors in place). is it ok to run the rywire if it doesn't have those wires and I wont be able to put in resistors?
|
Well if your using low impedance injectors with resistors on a high impedance ecu then that's what needs to be used regardless what engine loom you use. The plug and play ecu with a rywire harness and high impedance injectors really cleans thing up so I would thing the pnp ecu would work less. Not having emissions or twin turbo controls but regardless its able to support it either way. I just bought my rywire harness yesterday in excited...

how could I tell about the impedance

What injectors do you have? Bosch ev-14s are high impedance (this includes Injector dynamics as well) Older Bosch and stuff (ie the 1600s and 1680s that a lot of kits come with are low impedance |
they are stock 1994 fd3s

Rywire harness is mainly for single turbo application, yes you can call Rywire and ask them to add all the other connectors to control twin turbos but is going to get expensive very quick. I'm in my second Rywire harness and in both time that I order had it in my hands in less than a week. |
I picked up a Rywire harness for my single turbo build. It's a very nice piece indeed as mentioned above but I'm running power fc. I once inquired about having a stock engine harness made and was quoted (no shit) ~$2000+/-. It just wasn't worth it to me to spend that much to continue staying at the current hp and I've been wanting to do this build for a while now.
TL;DR rywire is good stuff, they shipped it to me in a week. |
You would be far better off getting a good, used harness and a PowerFC. PowerFC is one of the best things you can do to an FD, even stock or near stock, and a good stock harness with some new electrical tape can last a very long time.

It won't be cheap I was quoted 900 for a simplified sequential with no emissions
