Rx7 Store High Flow Cat
 

I just got a rx7 store high flow cat and was wondering what the deal with the air pump was. The cat has the tube to install it but no flange and there seems to be a cap welded on the end of the tube. Do I have to get someone to weld the proper flange on the tube? Or is there a trick? I just have to pass the sniffer test here in Nevada.

I just got my rx7 and have no idea what the air pump tube looks like Im just assuming there should be a flange. Right now the car has a midpipe installed.

Nevermind I think I figured out the air pump thing.

Care to share the resolution? That's more helpful for people that might have the same question in the future.

What about just cutting off the welded end of the air pump tube on the cat? Perhaps they ship it welded shut because they know most people won't be running the air pump, but want to give people the option in case they do.

The cat has a tube coming off it that you run the airpump to. You have to remove the flange off the stock tube and clamp it to the high flow cat.

I took my cap off with a pair of pliers, took some convincing but it did eventually just slip off.

I did some searching on Google and found aaroncake had a write up on installing a bonez high flow and I follwed his procedure. Here is the link to check out his process.

keep the check valve and tube from the stock cat and connect it. everything will work fine

I know this thread is kinda of old but I was wondering how long these cats are supposed to last? I just went to smog about a week ago and failed only at idle for High HC, like 1500ppm. So its obvioulsy way high but everything seem to be running well. I have never had to look at problems related to smog besides the cat. I just had the motor reuilt and it has maybe 200 miles on it so Im wondering if the motor just hasnt sealed up well enough to stop unburnt fuel from getting past the seals and into the exhaust thus causing high HC's. I did drive around for about 40min before taking it to smog and I never turned it off. Id like to check to see if the airpump is working correctly can I just take the hose that feeds air into the cat off and see if air is coming out when the car is idleing?
Would the O2 feedback being off cause the car to have high HC?

The car runs well but occasionaly it idles a little wierd, it sounds lumpy or like the sound pulsates. I will try to include a video of it below, any advice greatly appreciated. I dont have any running FD's in my area to compare my idle against.

Old thread, but wanted to add a helpful hint for people wanting to re-connect the air pump to high-flow cats.

Incase you end up with a high flow cat that's missing the tubing for the air pump, I found this one worked really well:

Walker 35574 - Catalytic converter air tube kit, about $20

I found one at my local OReilly's, but it's available on amazon/summit etc too.

Comes with the hose and extension tube, just cut the old tube at the one-way valve, and insert this tube with the supplied high-temp couplers, fit perfect!

it may need to be tweaked at the lower end since it was tuned on the sub 80psi compression engine. do you have a datalogit?

I have access to a dataloggit. I got the car registered and everything by getting a waiver. I would like to take some logs so I can take some of the fuel out. I think its running pretty rich. I have bad gas mileage and the wideband reads 7.5-9 most of the time. What kind of log should I take?

what is g2p. trying to pass this Damn test without spending on New cat

So you will have to cut the rubber hose in two pieces to connect the cut off flange to the extension metal tube then connect to the nipple on bones?
