Rx7 leather jacket?!
 

The guy I bought my FD from gave me a jacket he supposedly got when he originally bought the car in 1993. It's a brown leather jacket from Beyond Leather and has "Mazda" embroidered on the left cuff and "RX7" on the back of the neck. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? I searched online and couldn't find anything remotely like it. I'd wear it except for 2 things. #1 it is definitely from the early 90s style wise and super lame and #2 it's an XL and I'm 5'9".

Mazda actually had a dealer accessory leather jacket in the early '90s when the car was new. It didn't look like that as far as I know, it had "RX-7" on the cuff. I wanted one SO BAD back in the day, I remember it was pretty damn pricey from Mazda.

Wish I still had the promotional material that showed it.

I know it's pretty common for dealers to have model specific merchandise but what weirds me out is that I can't find anything like it online. I suppose it was a while ago, but I wonder if they made a lot of them or if this is an unusual thing.

That commercial wasn't for a TII it was a base model w/ the aluminum wheel option.

Thats probably the uglyes FC ever. That 1st gen that pulled up with the chicks looks much better than that. Why would they use that plain FC for a commercial instead of a TII.

Hmm. Maybe I'll toss it up in the for sale section since I have no idea what the heck I'd do with it. It's just been hanging in my closet since I bought the car a couple of years ago. The big question is it worthless piece of 90s trash or a one of a kind rare item with extreme value to the Rx7 man who has everything? :lol:

On the inside of the jacket does it say anything about being made for mazda ie. an officialy licenced product? I wonder if someone had that made for them:scratch:. Does the tag say where it is made?

That's funny. It just reeks of 90's Jeremy Clarkson.

I didn't see any officially licensed markings on the inside but I didn't look that hard. Though possible, I find it hard to believe that anyone would have made this jacket as a one off. I mean the jacket is pretty bad to start with and the embroidery is basically hidden and color matched to the leather.

Yeah. Maybe I should just ship it to him.
