Rx7 (FD) Japanese Police Car.
http://news-walker.sakura.ne.jp/images/20070302_7.jpg
And http://homepage3.nifty.com/tompei/s-16-Patocar.jpg http://homepage3.nifty.com/tompei/s-17-PatocarRear.jpg One Question, what is that crazy piece of plexigalss on the hood for ? Bugs ? It Certainly isn't aerodynamics... Here's one of an RC Car : http://www.geocities.jp/fact1073/rad...police-005.jpg |
Probably for wind tunnel testing :crzyeye:
|
Lots of Jap Police Cars seem to have that plexiglass..
I'd guess it is a stone deflector? |
Putting a prisoner in the back seat would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
|
Having to stare at the back of their heads with those "Space Balls" inspired safety helmets is Cruel and Highly Unusual ! :rlaugh:
|
haha wow nice catch!
|
any specs on the engine/performance?
|
you can tell they arent too concerned with going fast between the 6 " chunk of plastic on the hood and the 18" siren/light assembly. Geez they couldnt make some sleeker flashing lights for it??
The wheels look to be about 17's |
still, everyday going to work would be heaven, you could rip on it and not worry about the consequences
|
Would be kinda funny if you popped the hood and it had a mean ass turbo lol... Re-Amiya or FEED tuned lol
Chris |
Japanese cops can afford to have their police cars blow an apex seal every 60k?
|
You're talking about the plexiglass being aerodynamic??! What about the HUGE lights and speaker attached to the roof?
|
They have GT-R and STi police cars as well... Anyway, the FD police car is probably pretty old and not in use much.
|
Wow... don't run from this one. :)
|
are those the series 7 wheels?

dude thats pretty awsome lol

Sorry for the ancient bump, but I found this on eVil, a front clip.
From the looks of it, the car used to be a Japanese police FD Hilarious: /JDM-Mazda-RX7-Front-Clip-JDM-13B-Twin-Turbo-Engine-FD3S-Engine-Rotary-RX7-FD-/180883206617?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &hash=item2a1d7ab1d9&vxp=mtr |
^Link not complete/working.
And since this is bumped already....... The light bar is similar to what was in use locally in the late 80's, so it's likely pretty dated even for this old thread. The center section that some described as a "speaker" or siren looks like a radar antenna...probably 'K' band. Looks like they ran a rear facing one as well. Back then they were stupidly huge like that and no room inside for it. |

Sorry to bring back a zombie thread, but I just bought one of the rear spoilers the same as what is on the Police FD in the photos.. Whats the story with the spoiler? Is it called a 'whale tail' and is it aftermarket?
Cant seem to find a lot of info. I just got one in black for 100 bucks :) |
It is a 'whale tail' but not aftermarket. IIRC, they were OEM on certain models/series.
|
