RX7 as a daily driver?
 

Well I have a Stingray corvette that has been nothing but problems but I am getting it back soon. The only problem is that it gets like 14 miles per gallon and no one will insure it for what I put into it. So I was thinking about selling my Eclipse, which has tons of problems also and getting an RX7 93-95. I care about speed but I wont be racing it or anything. Is this a good car, that I wont have to worry about it or should I just hold on to my dieing eclipse?

Gas mileage: You'll have a few people claim higher, but typical gas mileage of a 93-95 RX-7 is about 13-15 mpg.

Insurance: Same thing. The money you put in it, won't really be reimbursed.

Daily driving: Keep it close to stock and there's not really a lot of problems with it (as long as you aren't trying to drive it in winter weather).

I was reading from there site and it said 19-24. But you are right I bet. Just kinda disapointing since that was one of the main reasons I wanted the car. So I would not have to spend 60 a week in gas.

Just buy a newer corvette..;)

Dont want one. I like the c5's but I cant afford 2 corvettes. I am just looking for something nice thats not a bitch car to replace my current bitch car. A red 01 eclipse RS.

Yeah, buying an RX7 for gas mileage and reliability would be the biggest mistake of your life. :o:

Can you all point me to a car for me as a daily driver?

I am looking for a used car from these years 87-2000. That has under 100k miles. Under 10k. Also needs to be stick. Sporty but with decent gas milage and relaible. I really do like the RX7 tho. But I dont need more problems :-/

The FD is really a show toy in my opinion. A 2001 eclipse is going far more reliable, than a car that is over 12 years old with parts that are wearing or if not worn out. For one you are now going to have to deal with turbos, for two you are now going to have to deal with a rotary. And each one of those can be more than a handful. Definetly not something you want to drive on a daily basis, an

yes rx7 can be used as a daily driver, i do it, but i do it mainly cause its fun and I cant have 2 cars. The gas mileage is bad and its tough to drive it with all the stuff done to it. Insurance was actually LESS than on my last car though (V6 tiburon)

Cant you get show and and reliable car with out paying tons for a new 2000+ car? I am stuck with a 81 corvette, which I love. But has been hell and now that it works 14 miles a gallon is not cutting it for daily driving. What about an Acrua?

Get a Volvo 240 Wagon. Best car for reliability and versitility I've ever had. 5-Speed too!!!!

My 7 is my daily driver, and its ignition wires just decided to go out on me on my way back to work from lunch. Moral of the story... if you dont want to be stranded, dont buy a 7

Well, I'm sorry to say that you really aren't going to get something "Sporty, good gas mileage, reliable, under 100k miles and less than $10,000". That would be a high school kid's dream.

If you want something sporty, decent gas mileage and reliable, the cheapest thing is going to be a used S2000, Miata or maybe an older MR2.

S2000 and MR2 was another car I was conisdering. Know what years look the best and have the least amount of problems. I dont care that much about hp.

The S2000's started in 2000. The cheapest I've seen those are around $16k. However, it's a Honda, so it's not likely to give you much if any trouble.

Prelude, i guess. It's a Honda. You don't have to worry about nothing besides oil change and basic maintenance. It's not going to give you any trouble. Plus sporty and decent gas mileage. Try '97. I bet you could find a very nice one for a little over 10k.

Ask the owner, not us. ;) There are forums for just about any car you'll be interested in purchasing. I suggest you visit some of them, to learn more about each car.

Preludes don't get that good of gas mileage. If all you care about is a nice car with good mileage and reliability, then get a civic or an integra... OR GET A HYBRID!. Those are cheap to fill up and mileage lasts really long.

Whats the earlest year with a good body style on the MR2?

If you're really thinking about an S2000, '02-'04 would be your best bet.
